Worship Service Ministries

Volunteer to become an active part of our worship services. Join us as an acolyte, crucifer, altar guild member, lector, chalicer, or usher; sing in the adult choir; or participate in our Celtic and Special Service Committee.

Acolytes & Junior Acolytes

Active participation in worship can be a great way to develop a child's faith. We welcome children, as well as youth and adults to serve as acolytes and crucifers at our Sunday services.

Altar Guild

The Altar Guild is comprised of teams who are organized and trained to care for the altar, the sanctuary, adornments and vestments of the altar. You need not be a confirmed Episcopalian to serve on Altar Guild. Being a member of Altar Guild is an excellent way to get to know other members of the church and learn about our liturgy.

Lectors & Ushers

Lectors participate in services by reading Holy Scripture to the congregation. Lectors meet regularly to review and understand scriptures, as well as learn speaking skills.

Ushers perform a vital role at our regular Sunday services, as well as at funeral and memorial services. They monitor and assist in the flow of our worship and greet people as they enter the church. They also have the envious responsibility of ringing the church bell to begin our worship.

Adult Choir

Try singing, it's good for you! When you sing, it is said that you pray twice!! The challenges and rewards of choral singing are great, and the Adult Choir at Grace offers an opportunity to experience both. Rehearsals take place every Tuesday from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm in the Choir Room. All who wish to share their talents to the glory of God through singing are welcome.

Celtic & Special Services Committee

Members of this committee help to plan and set up the Celtic service and other special services. From creating liturgy to lighting candles and planning music, this committee lets creative juices flow. Meetings occur as needed.

 Parish Life & Fellowship

Join us for our various social gatherings and activities.

Coffee Hour

Join us for coffee and nibbles, following each service on Sunday mornings!
Coffee Hour provides parishioners and visitors the chance to talk and
have a chance to meet one another.
9:00 am & 11:30 am

Coffee Hosts
Coffee Hosts provide the coffee and dessert during the coffee hour.

Adult Forum

The Adult Forum provides programming for the Adult Christian Education hour held in Grace House between Sunday morning services. During the Adult Forum hour, Parishioners are presented with a host of wide-ranging theological topics and encouraged to dialog about them.

Building & Grounds Committee

The Building and Grounds Committee is charged with developing a plan for attending to the good upkeep of our physical facilities. Headed by the junior warden, this group helps keep our building and grounds in tip-top shape. If you have handy-man or woman skills, join this group. We need you!

Welcome Committee

The Welcome Committee is a ministry by the people of Grace to those
new among us bringing welcome and hospitality into the life of this Parish. The Ministry of Welcome is vital to the health of the church. The mission of this committee is to invite folks into the church, welcome them as they arrive and connect them to the various opportunities available at Grace Church
so that we may learn, serve and grow in faith together.

Office Volunteers:
The Face of Grace

Four mornings during the week, the church office has a volunteer receptionist. The receptionist serves Monday - Thursday from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm or
9:30 am - 12:30 pm. The receptionist answers general phone calls,
greets visitors, and assists with office tasks as needed.

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee is responsible for the following:

Financial Statements
The Finance committee meets quarterly to monitor the Church's financial statements as prepared by the church Treasurer.

The Annual Audit
This includes a thorough review of the previous year's financial statements, a review of finance and accounting practices and procedures, and a review of insurance policies and coverages. The audit can be performed by an outside auditing firm or internally by a committee using diocesan guidelines and procedures.

Budget Preparation
Each church committee is asked to present their objectives and financial requirements for the coming year to the finance committee. The finance committee oversees the process of developing a budget from those requests. A final budget is presented to the Vestry in January.

Garden Keepers

Join with others who help maintain the Grace Church landscape by weeding and trimming and mulching our grounds. If you have a heart for plants and planting

Pastoral Care Ministries

These volunteer groups support our parish members
when they find themselves in need.

Funeral Reception Committee

The Funeral Reception Committee considers it an honor to help
bereaved families of members who die by offering refreshment and fellowship
in Grace House following the funeral or memorial service. We work in close contact with the family to make the presentation of Grace House beautiful
and the atmosphere comfortable. The family is asked to provide the food, and we provide all else. A list of recommended caterers is available.

We see this as a sacred time, and we make every effort to show respect
for the deceased and for those who come to remember them.

Parish Visitors

The Parish Visitors are a group of lay members of Grace Church who visit members confined temporarily or indefinitely to their homes, assisted living or nursing care facilities. We believe that these folks miss the interaction with their church community and we seek to alleviate their loneliness. We wish to reassure them that their contribution to the life of Grace Church was and is still appreciated. Most of all, we hope our presence can be an avenue through which they are reminded of God's love for them.

HOW IT WORKS
Each month three or four visitors from the group visit each of person from our list of home bound parishoners at least twice during the month. Each Parish Visitor might have 6 to 8 people to visit during their term of service. At present, most of the people we visit are residents of RW-C, the Lancashire, or Commonwealth Senior Living.

At the beginning of their month of service, visitors meet with the team of visitors who have completed the previous month, sharing insights as well as practical observations about how the spiritual needs of those we are visiting have been and might continue to be met.

TIME COMMITMENT
A Parish Visitor selects which month(s) he or she is willing to volunteer for this ministry. As more members of Grace decide to join Parish Visitors, the time commitment will diminish. Presently, most Visitors serve two months during the year (though not two months in succession).

 Music at Grace

The Music Ministry at Grace continues the long Episcopal tradition of providing choral, organ, and congregational music
to support the Liturgy of the Word in worship.

Adult Parish Choir

Under the leadership of Seung-Hey l, Director of Music, the Parish Choir offers choral music throughout the year based on the lectionary readings. Special services sung by the choir include the Annual Lessons and Carols service, Christmas Eve service, special music during Holy Week and Easter, the annual Homecoming service at Historic Christ Church, Choral Evensongs during the year, and occasional concerts of sacred music.

Music at Grace is accompanied by our Welsh Memorial Pipe Organ, built by the Parsons Organ Company, and our Dakin Memorial Steinway grand piano.  Guest musicians join our organist Michael McNeill during the year to provide instrumental musical offerings.

Rehearsal Schedule
Rehearsals take place every Wednesday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Choir Room.

Occasional choral and instrumental concerts are held both in Grace Church
and outdoors on the Grace Church campus.

Youth Choir

We’d love to start one, but haven’t done so yet! All who wish to
share their talents to the glory of God through singing are welcome.

Virtual Worship Choir

Virtual choir provided musical accompaniment during the pandemic time. Members recorded themselves at home (usually on their iPhone/smartphone), singing along to cue tracks made by Michael McNeill and Patti Taylor, and submitted their recordings to be blended together. The music from this group is in our library and may be used occasionally in our virtual offerings. If you are interested in submitting recorded vocal tracks, contact Seung-Hye Kim.

Scholarship Committee

The money for the Grace Church Scholarship funds as well as the
Mary Winston McCullough Scolarship fund, provided by generous bequests,
are invested in the Grace Church Endowment Fund. Money for all scholarships
comes from the annual distribution of the interest earned on these investments.
The Scholarship Committee meets several times throughout the year
to decide how scholarship funds will be awarded.
