GODLY PLAY AT GRACE
COME AND WONDER WITH US!

This September, Grace Church kicks off our fourth year of the Godly Play program. Godly Play is a Montessori-based Christian education program that was developed by the Rev. Dr. Jerome Berryman, with the goal of teaching children the art of using the language of the Christian tradition to encounter God. Godly Play involves storytelling, wondering, and time for the children to choose their own work to further explore the lessons of the program. This is all done in our wonderful Godly Play classrooms, which have been carefully arranged to showcase the storytelling materials.

It’s an amazing program!

We have a wonderful team of Godly Play teachers in Johanna Carrington, Shirley Crockett, Terrie Dort, Tom Hendell, Thomas Somers, Kay Stout, Sallie Schmidt, and Deidre McSweeny-Tyson. They are all wonderfully enthusiastic about Godly Play and look forward to another great year.

This year, we will have lessons on the Church Year, Holy Baptism, Advent, Christmas, the Communion of Saints, and many more.

Godly Play begins at 10:15 am and ends just before the Peace, with your child returning to you at that point (generally about 11:15). Because the teachers are bringing your child back to you after Godly Play, two things help to ensure an easy return to you. First, please make sure to sign your child in at the Sign In Room, found on the second floor of Grace House. Please indicate where you will be sitting (as closely as you can). Second, please make eye contact with one of the Godly Play teachers when your child is back with you in church. This will help both parties to make sure that all children are accounted for and with their families. Many thanks!

If you have any questions about Godly Play, please contact one of the teachers or me. Thank you, and we hope to see your child in Godly Play soon!
